School:            SMPN 8 Banda Aceh
Class:               VII.6
Date:               April, 29th 2017
Teacher:           Mrs. Mariani
Media:             Text Book

During teaching learning process, teacher uses text book of Bahasa Inggris When English Rings a Bell. Almost a whole semester the teacher just uses this book, but sometime they also provide paper materials. Good news, all students have it, so teaching learning process still have been going well.

In that day, the term of learning is observing and asking question. First, they read together the conversation from book, the students follow what the teacher says and they can read from their own book.

Look at the picture below! Students focus read like teacher speaks and pronounces. They do this for several times. Then teacher asks some students to read conversation. I think it traditional method but most students look enjoy and comfortable when learning.

Then teacher asks them to practice in pairs. They will do a little role play with this conversation. Although they just use this book in learning, I see the students can practice the conversation well, and I think this book and teacher’s method can improve student’s speaking. After teaching, I ask teacher about other mediums and the teacher says sometime she uses realia media such as the noun in the classroom or in school environment, and something familiar for them, such as family, market, office and others.

little about Listening

When do you usually hear someone without properly listening to him/her? Usually I hear someone without listening to him/her when I’m busy with my work, when   people are talking close to me, when I’m sleepy, bored and bad mood, and when what the someone talking is not interest me. For example, my friends and I do homework together, I’m focus on laptop and when they ask me something, I’m not directly respond them , they should touch me first, so I’m aware and I ask them to replay their questions. Also, when I sit alone in public place, there are many people that they are talking around me, I’m not pay attention to them and I won’t know what they are talking about. My mood also affected my listening, for example when I join in a discussion that take time about 2 hours, for first time it works well after that my soul is not there J , sleepy and bored kill my spirit. The last, when my friends are talking about the celebrity, ninety percent it’s not interest me to pay a...
