Teachnology-Internet Media PART 2

A.    Discussion

There are a large number of online tools that can be used for second/foreign language learning and teaching (Chapelle & Jamieson, 2008; Garrett, 2009; Godwin-Jones, 2009, 2010; Levy, 2009; Meskill & Anthony, 2010; Warschauer, 2010). Internet-based language instruction (IBLI) can be defined as language teaching conducted on the Internet using Internet tools and resources (Son, 2004).
According to Son (2001), the online tools are classified into twelve categories based on their main functions and features: learning/content management systems; communication; live and virtual worlds; social networking and bookmarking; blogs and wikis; presentation; resource sharing; Website creation; Web exercise creation; Web search engines; dictionaries and concordancers; and utilities. Mindomo included utilities that can be useful for language learning activities, especially for writing. It’s free access, just need log in with our own email.

This media can be used by teacher and also students. Look at the below picture! There are some functions for teacher and students and almost having differences between teacher and students’ features. Teacher needs to demonstrate this media to all students. Some class time (or special sessions in a computer lab) may be needed to teach the students how to use the software effectively. The important one, teacher must make sure that the students have to log in as a student’s account.

Mindomo is used in writing term for students in Senior High School, although it can be used for other necessary but in my paper, I just focus of Mindomo’s using in writing term. After introducing this media, teacher will give writing assignment for students, to make a text and use this media to make a brainstorming. They might choose essay planning and writing feature to conduct this assignment.

Mindomom also provides explanations about learning with mind maping, how to make it and why is it used. With using this media, learning and teaching is easier primerly for students, that can stuck or lose idea when they write a text. This media train students to open minded while they’re writing. In this picture below, students must to choose what kind of their writing, clic at templates column for this example writer chooses Literature & Writing. Then choosing story map. The materials that can teachers provide such as recount text, narrative, procedure, descriptive and other texts.

Look how the media will guide its user! First of course we must state the title. Like wee see at the second picture below, the map has state the term for each column. At the begining, there are column for character, setting and their parts such as personality, time, location and season.

At the middle and closing, the map have state about challenge, motivation, obstacles, climax, outcomes and their parts. It’s very helping and useful for student in learning, they just put their own idea in every column. This assignment do outside school time and students do individually. With using this media students not only can improve writing skill, also having knowledge about technology especially for internet base.

A.    Conclusion
After finding the aims of this study, the writer hope it can be useful for teacher and also students. This media can improve learning-teaching activities more effective, get conducting internet learning-teaching base. With using Mindomo, students can develop their writing skill and the writer hope for all teacher can use this media because indirectly teacher has give knowledge about technology-internet.

MINI RESEARCH PART 2

A.            Result and Discussion As Nguyen Ngoan stated in his article “ listening to VOA: advantages, problems and solutions” the students have to face these three problems. First of all, the students find it hard to understand proper names as they have never heard about it before. In other words, they have no background knowledge about what they are listening. The second problem is believed to rise from the unfamiliar, uninteresting and too long listening which makes the students feel strange, discouraged and bored of what they are hearing. The last one is assumed to be about the sound connections and intonation spoken by native speakers with different accents. The researcher has interview 7 students from unit 6 with some questions, these are the result of information and has analyzed by researcher. The way student study by their own and the strategies will help them to get over   and success in listening: from the...

Technology-Internet Media

TECHNOLOGY-INTERNET MEDIA WWW.MINDOMO.COM Santi Rahmadani (140203028) A.     Introduction The term instructional media has been defined in a variety of ways. In some cases, it refers to all aids that are used by the teacher and students. In other cases, it refers only to printed media. This definition is close to a broader definition such as that of Romiszowski (1981: 339) which includes not only electronic communications media, but also such devices as slides, photographs, teacher-made diagrams, charts, real objects and handouts that we use in the process of planned instruction. A key feature of effective teaching is the selection of instructional materials that meet the needs of students and fit the constraints of the teaching and learning environment. Instructional resources usually fall into one of two categories: student-centered and teacher-centered. In the student-centered model, instructional resources can be used for tutorials, problem solving, ...
